WHY I STARTED VIRTUALLY TOURISM
People often ask, “Why did you start Virtually Tourism?”
The truth is, I didn’t plan to start a business. I was simply trying to protect my family and find a new way forward.
A while ago, my daughter went through a traumatic experience with bullying that led to school refusal. While others said to “push her through it,” I knew what she really needed was time, space, and support. We made the choice to take her out of school, and I made the choice to be fully there for her.
That also meant stepping away from the traditional tourism career I’d built over 40 years. I couldn’t travel. I couldn’t work set hours. But I wasn’t ready to leave the industry I loved.
So I asked myself: What if there’s another way?
Virtually Tourism was my answer. A way to stay connected, earn an income, support tourism operators, and create meaningful, flexible work for others like me who needed a different path.
Fast forward to today:
My daughter is about to graduate Year 12 via distance education and has just started her first job as a swimming teacher.
And me? I now lead a growing team, supporting tourism operators to work smarter, reclaim their time, and stay passionate about what they do even as life changes around them.
Because sometimes, the hardest moments in life create the clearest path forward.
And when you find a new way that works, you build it strong enough to bring others with you.

A self-confessed tech geek with a sharp eye for innovation, Tracey specialises in RMS property management systems and harnessing the power of AI to drive smarter, more efficient business solutions. Her unique blend of industry know-how and tech-savvy insight helps businesses streamline operations, boost bookings, and stay ahead of the curve.
Originally from the UK, Tracey now calls tropical North Queensland home, embracing the relaxed lifestyle while empowering tourism businesses to thrive in a digital world.
